A European movement for the rights and future of independent work
Public declaration for the future of independent work in Europe.
We believe in a Europe where independent work is recognised, respected and protected. Freelancers and self-employed professionals contribute to culture, technology, education, creativity and progress, yet remain largely invisible in the policies that shape the future of work. We declare that this must change. Independent workers deserve fair and modern frameworks that provide clarity, mobility, dignity and stability. Independence must never mean precarity.
We call for transparent rights, simple cross-border systems, and protections that match the realities of a modern, flexible workforce. We affirm that access to knowledge is a democratic right and that learning should be open, shared and grounded in lived experience. No independent professional should face complex systems or unequal treatment alone. Together, we commit to building a united European community capable of shaping its own future.
We pledge to act with integrity, transparency and civic responsibility. Our mission cannot be bought, our agenda cannot be redirected, and every contribution strengthens a collective cause: advancing the rights and conditions of independent workers across Europe. We call on European institutions to acknowledge freelancers as essential contributors to economic and social life, and to ensure that labour policies evolve with the transformations they themselves drive.
Join us and add your voice to Europe’s independent workforce.
Why we exist
Independent work is growing, but Europe’s frameworks haven’t kept pace.
Freelancers face fragmented rules, weak protections, and a lack of representation.
We exist to change that through advocacy, education, community and scholarships.
What we stand for
Dignified independent work Clear rights, fair conditions, transparent frameworks and institutional recognition for all freelancers. Professional freedom without precarity Choosing independence should not mean vulnerability or instability. A connected European landscape for freelancers Mobility, cross-border work and digital independence must function smoothly across the continent. Open access to knowledge We are not a university, school or training provider. We educate through shared knowledge: interviews, reports, workshops, debates, podcasts and events that explain the realities and challenges of independent work. Open access to knowledge We are not a university, school or training provider. We educate through shared knowledge: interviews, reports, workshops, debates, podcasts and events that explain the realities and challenges of independent work. Collective representation and community A united voice is the only way to influence institutions, negotiate better frameworks and gain long-term rights. Ethics, transparency and independence No partner can dictate our agenda. No individual can override our collective mission. Every benefit, grant or opportunity is reinvested into the community.
